Things I covet today: Louis Vuitton bags

One of the dangers of working smack-dab in the middle of the San Francisco design district is that you are constantly surrounded by fancy interior designers. The kind who talk exclusively about color palates and $600 lamps. The kind with perfect highlights, one of the kind accessories and who are always seen eating ahi tuna salads (barely) and carrying around fancy shopping bags. It all makes a plain ol’ corporate girl seem downright dowdy in comparison.

So when one particularity trendy interior design femme was at the cafe toting her impossibly perfect $920 Louis Vuitton Cabas Mezzo today at lunch I just about lost it. I don’t normally go for designer bags but this one had me drooling. Never mind that I wouldn’t speak to myself for at least 12 weeks if I splurged on this kind of thing. Also ignore the facts that I also can’t afford it and that I would spill makeup inside it before the end of the first week. Maybe it’s time for a trip to Chinatown for a $30 imposter. Be still my beating, jealous heart.

Update: I just discovered that you can buy the same bag online here for the oh-so-bargain price of $480. Although…it does appear like the kind of website that would gladly take your money and keep the purse. Rightly so, it’s karmic retribution for even considering owning such an expensive handbag.
