Things I Love Today: Meet Me in St. Louis

I love the holidays, but there is one Christmas song that instantly puts me in a bit of a funk. Every version of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” – no matter how fast or how perky – is to me very depressing. I just can’t stop picturing Judy Garland and Tootie being so sad about having to move from St. Louis and leaving John behind…

What a great movie. I really need to rent it again. Anywho, all this came up because there is a great version of the song on the latest Paste CD by Bebo Norman.

Wow. How come I have never seen this movie? Looks like my netflix queue needs a quick update! I had no idea this song was so sad…. 🙁

This is one of my favorites!! Last year they showed it on the big screen in Portland and the now very old Tootie was their signing autographs:) It was fun!

I’ve had the Judy Garland version of that song stuck in my head for days now & couldn’t place it!
Ahh, it’s so tragic when she sings it! Her silver sequins scarf & fake eye lashes are so glamorous & lovely, it almost makes up for it, though!

I love that song, but it is a little sad. My brother can never get home for Christmas. It’s difficult to have Santa (for 4 kids) come to grandma’s house instead and we always miss him. The Christmas phone call doesn’t do it.

I love, love, love that movie. I want to own it. It is a rare person these days who is familiar with this movie. Yes, the song is sad, but wonderful too.
