Urban Girl Almanac: Bay View

Urban Girl Almanac: Bay View

This has been a whirlwind week. Lots of working out, eating out and even an escape from the city. Here’s what I learned:

  • It’s fun to have you photo taken.
  • I’m feeling summer via cravings for watermelon, beach time and ferns.
  • I may make a book out of the engagement photos.
  • Spring bedding is tricky. It seems like I’m switching between a light quilt and heavy comforter every night.
  • Tossing back and forth an 18 lb medicine ball is a great workout.
  • Sausalito smells so nice. I hope we’ll move there some day when we’re done with all the fun things in the city.
  • I’m into Carrier on PBS right now. Turtlenecks…who knew?!
  • Wish you could talk to more random strangers in the morning? Try riding a tandem bike to work.
  • I’m so over the windy days we’ve been having lately.
  • Enough butter and garlic will make anything – even broccoli – taste good.
  • 30 Rock! Lost! Good TV on Thursday’s these days.
  • Our latest uke and bass hit is Me and Julio Down by the School Yard. (Spike Lee? John Madden? Weird video)
  • This week’s painting is of San Francisco at sunset by Krista Peel, an artist who also makes killer miniature rooms.

This is going to be a busy weekend. We have friends with a new baby in town. A fancy wedding to photograph all day tomorrow and brunch with another friend on Sunday. My goals are to go to the movies, read some New Yorker and sleep. Have a great weekend!

Did you see my post about your lovely photos and a blurb book, or are we thinking in tandem? I would do a really small one, like a children’s book… I think your great grandkids would be delighted when they find it in a box one day (am I weird that I think like that?)
Something that will make you love the wind: the beach. Last night at Baker Beach the wind was pushing the waves in and making them all lacey and beautiful.

I love Carrier! What a fun soap opera type show it’s turned out to be. I thought it was going to be something else. I love the glimpse into a totally different life than mine. I also love that show Traveler on PBS especially when the funny Welshman is the host.. he’s so fun!

Weird video? I think most of Paul Simon’s are! My favorite as a kid was “You Can Call Me Al” with Chevy Chase. I love it when Chevy tries to set his drink on the drum stand and then jams to Paul playing the flute. Classic!

My fiance used to be in the Navy but doesn’t talk about it much. We Tivo’d the whole Carrier series, and I love it because I can ask him all these questions about things and learn what his life used to be like!
