Party Recipe: Book Shower

I’m helping to throw a book-themed baby shower for my librarian cousin in a few weeks. There are so many great things you can do with this idea. Wedding Style Guide – a favorite source from my wedding planning days – has some really cute templates available online for a book bridal shower that can…
To Do: Haven

To Do: Haven

The business trip in Atlanta last week was easily one of the hardest trips of my career. Despite being understaffed and outgunned, we managed to make the week a huge success for the company. The team started our time in Atlanta with a delicious dinner at Blue Ridge Grill – worked our tails off for…
Deal: Kayserzinn Poppy Tray

Deal: Kayserzinn Poppy Tray

I needed another silver tray like a whole in the head, but this piece at the Alameda Flea Market was just too appealing. And, after a little internet research, I’m glad I indulged. Its a 12×9 pewter tray with a poppy design and monogram by a German company called Kayserzinn. I bought it for $18…according…
Weekend Round-Up: Recovery

Weekend Round-Up: Recovery

I landed back in San Francisco from my business trip at 1 am on Friday morning. After a short day at work, the last thing I wanted to do was hit the town. Rob and I spent a quiet night at home with roast pork tacos and Hulu. I barely made it past nine and…

My House: Coffee Pot

My House: Coffee Pot

This silver piece is one of my favorites. A coffee pot on a hinged stand inherited from my grandmother. You light a little oil lamp below to keep the coffee warm. Tilt the pot to pour straight into a cup. It’s a hit at brunch parties.

Movie: Holiday

Loved stumbling across this 1938 film. Cary Grant is young and dapper. Katharine Hepburn sassy and trim. This scene with the anti-stuffed shirt club hiding out from a fancy party is a classic.
To Do: Acme Bread

To Do: Acme Bread

Acme’s cranberry walnut whole wheat bread is a delight. Almost as thick as fruitcake with a nice crust, this bread is a great choice toasted with cream cheese and honey for breakfast or paired with goat cheese for lunch. It is serious bread.
