A embarrassingly large element of deciding to start my own…
To Do: Pack for Honeymoon
Packing for the honeymoon started last weekend. We’re visiting so many climates over 29 days, it’s hard to figure out what not to take!
My friend Margaret pulled this article out of an old Domino magazine as inspiration for me. Love the striped shirt, flat boots and aviator glasses. Here’s what else is on my packing list:
- Lots of French lingerie I’ve been stockpiling
- A new sun dress
- A couple new summer tops I’ve also been saving up
- A few pairs of jeans
- T-shirts
- Three button up “camp” shirts
- Lots of sweaters of varying weight
- Hiking boots
- Flip flops
- Comfy, cute flats
- Climbing shoes and harness
- One nice dress and shoes
- Long underwear
- Red puffy vest
- Black puffy jacket
- New beanie from Sports basement
- Wide sun hat and baseball cap
- Bikinis
- Aviators
Should I take a pair of cowboy boots too? I have a red pair and a black pair…but I don’t want to look like a total poseur. What else do I need to take for our “Tour of the Great American West?”

Yes to the boots! Any opportunity to wear cow[girl] boots should be taken.
And speaking of taking, you will take loads of pictures for us readers, right? 🙂
Of course! But you poor dears will have to wait until we’re back at the end of October for updates. No blogging on vacation, that’s too much like work 😉
Definitely take the boots and if you’re doing some camping/hiking I would recommend a pair of gloves as well. I pulled out my gloves in the middle of the day on Saturday during a hike outside of Crested Butte – it’s getting chilly in the mountains!
I just did a similar trip and I wore about the same thing every day! The cowboy boots might be uncomfy for riding in the car/hiking/sightseeing and a little bulky, too.
oh my thank you for posting that article from the domino mag, i ripped it out of the mag when i saw it but lost it. i want that girls haircut!
Your honeymoon sounds kinda lame, but I do love your blog. You should’ve booked a honeymoon deserving of the type of wedding you’re having.
As a recent Chicago transplant to Wyoming, I can assure you that cowboy boots are de rigueur in this state. Plus bringing them along gives you an excuse to get in a little Texas two-stepping at one of the local cowboy bars! : )
oooh, October! 🙁 That’s so long! 🙂 haha. I know you will have a blast, but have a blast Emily!! 🙂
Do you have a pretty picnic/under the stars blanket?
I normally have a policy of letting these things go…but not this time.
KB – Your comment is hurtful. You shouldn’t have written it. If you think my honeymoon is lame, I feel sorry for you. My honeymoon is awesome!
If you are going to go anywhere near Jackson… you might look out of place without a great pair of boots! Sounds like a fabulous trip!
I’m not much of a hard-core camper, but I thought maybe you’d want to bring a robe. You never know when it just might come in handy.
KB, I think this awesome honeymoon fits in perfectly with her awesome wedding. I’m jealous I don’t get to go myself!
request! I want (we want) a teaser picture of the wedding before October!! Can you have Jordan guest post one or something, with a tiny paragraph about how great the wedding was?
And your wedding and honeymoon are going to be awesome!
Emily, I’m glad you called KB out on her/his comment – your honeymoon will be such an adventure, and, from what I gather from your blog, totally suited to you and Rob. All the best, Patricia
KB– On the contrary, I think their honeymoon idea is romantic, original, adventurous. Maybe staying at a generic resort somewhere would be more your style, but that’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Also, bad manners, seriously.

ha! that photo is on our inspiration board for our women’s fall collection. i love it.
I grew up in Utah (chicago now) so I can DEFINATELY tell you that socks socks socks! I know it sounds silly but socks at night when camping are my go to! the big thick ones you get at sports stores are amazing with long underwear :0) at night … or the other kind of underwear(hehe)
also make sure you wear lots of layers when you guys hike! as the temps change so much!
oh and a clean white button down shirt is my favorite travel top – – looks great and crisp even if you were camping the night before :0)
I vote bringing baseball tee’s! There is nothing more american and more comfy!
