This kind of black and white poppy would be so tough to find and so delicate – but amazing bunched together in a loose up-do with dark hair and a black gown.

An onyx and diamond ring would be the perfect match for a night at the ball. And for special evenings in between. I’ve seen this art deco specimen in person at Lang’s – it’s lovely!

Audrey Hepburn’s black and white gown from Sabrina (go to 2:20) would be an amazing dress for the ball. I usually go for a lean sheath dress, but one year it would be fun to go big…and to bring a matching set of poodles with me!

The Art Student Ball scene in American Paris is a classic black & white ball inspiration. Leslie Caron is lovely in her star dress. And the gents, well, instead of tuxes they’re artists in goofy costumes – but still very handsome.
