Wedding: Location, Location, Location

Wedding: Location, Location, Location

The wedding isn’t going to be until October 2008 and I’ve already had a few minor freak outs. It is hard to be a bride-to-be! I think I’ll feel a lot better once we have our location reserved.

Rob and I are leaning toward the Ahwahnee in Yosemite for the ceremony and reception. It’s an amazing old hotel and set in a location we really love. Our first trip together was to Yosemite back in August 2001. Rob treated me to dinner at the very fancy Ahwahnee dining room before informing that we would have to camp out, sans tent, underneath some rocks that night. That was my first time visiting Yosemite and my first camping trip.

There are couple different rooms (pdf) you can use at the hotel. I think the photo above is the “mural room.” I found that photo in a Ahwahnee wedding album belonging to a cute couple named Lisa and Jim. Check out their gardenia place settings. Nicole found another Ahwahnee slideshow from TheKnot.com for me.

I am picturing mahogany Chivari chairs, ivory and chocolate brown linens, and those Glamis Castle roses. The gardenias are pretty in that room. What a pretty setting!

I went to a beautiful reception there! The couple was married at the little church in the valley. Excellent choice! Congrats!

That sounds like a lovely choice! I remember seeing deer hanging out around the entrance to the hotel.

I had a lovely dinner at the Awahnee too, once. Then we drove to the top of the mountain, built a fire and stayed up all night watching the stars. It was awesome. And I was just with a bunch of friends/colleagues – no romance at all – and still it was great.
