Inspired: Sense and Sensibility

I watched Sense and Sensibility (the 1995 version with Emma Thompson) over the weekend. What a wonderful film! I feel like I hadn’t seen it before, but I know that is impossible.

The cottage in this film is especially wonderful. I love the light slate blue walls, painted floors, wainscoting, yellow rugs and vases of wildflowers. It looks surprisingly modern for a film made 10 years ago and set 200 years ago.

I would move in tomorrow; likelihood of infectious fever due to dramatic rainy walks be dammed!

Emma Thompson did the most amazing job with that script and played the part of Sense so incredibly well. I always cry at the end and wish it was just a bit longer.

There are not too many movies out there that while the closing credits reel, I want to start it over and watch the whole thing over again. It’s just THAT good. I totally agree about the house too. What a dream!

Sense & Sensibility is one of my all time favorites – books and movies. I remember watching it when I was in high school and absolutely bawling in the movie theatre. My hubby and I rewatched it again a few weeks ago and although I still loved it, I couldn’t imagine what I had been bawling about. Since then, we’ve been on a total Jane Austen movie spree: P&P, both versions, Emma, Persuasion…ahh, I love them all.
