What to decorate: Nicole’s office
Nicole just bought her first house in Salt Lake City. She’s moving in this weekend. When she asked for help decorating her new office/guest bedroom, we were glad to oblige! Plus, it fits perfectly with our stylish desk theme today!
Here’s the photo of her office with the old owner’s stuff in it. We’re working with a low roof and some odd shaped windows in this space. 
The first step is to paint. Using a darker color for the ceiling is supposed to make the room look taller and Nicole specified that she wanted something light blue. Since this is an office/guest room, I thought it was important to keep a relaxed vibe. The curtains are made with some “forest pods” fabric from ReproDepot. I would leave the mini blinds underneath so that guests could make the room darker if they wanted. The desk and chair are from West Elm. The wing chair adds to the comfy atmosphere for $399 and the desk gives it a clean feel for $279.
Voila! Instant fix for this tiny office space. What do you think Nicole?

So Emily, what are good places to buy furniture in SF? I ‘ve been looking all over for affordable solid wood modern pieces and the search has been pretty fruitless. Do you know any good stores in the bay or anywhere within 3 hours of SF?
If it helps any I need a dining set, a couple bar stools, a place to make home for my tv and a new bed. A lot, huh?! But it was a good day at Goodwill yesterday when I donated all of those pieces that I used to own and could not stand any more.
I know of a couple good options. It depends on your price range mostly.
Room and Board is great for quality new furniture. EQ3 is fun too, but a lot cheaper. Therapy on Valencia has nice sofas that are reasonable.
“Affordable solid wood furniture” makes me think of vintage danish modern pieces. Past Perfect on Union is one of my favorite sources for vintage decor.
There are also a lot of import shops that carry solid wood pieces and that process custom orders for cheap (Jill?). And if you need barstools, you have to visit House of Stools.
