Mission: Impossible

The original Mission: Impossible TV series is my new summer favorite.  Watching old series during the summer makes me nostalgic for lazy July mornings at the beach spent with I Love Lucy and Gilligan’s Island waiting for the fog to burn off.

 If you’ve only seen the Tom Cruise movies, you’re in for a nice surprise. The complex spy plots (mostly, using theatrical arts to trick bad Russian dudes) are engaging. The diverse cast is a nice reminder that the late 1960s wasn’t all terrible Mad Men-style sexism.  Plus, the clothes and sets are really great too.  They’re available on Netflix streaming right now.
