What to Wear: Bay Area Job Interview
Two good friends of mine happen to have big job interviews coming up next week. And, I just happened to go to a great event hosted by XX in Health last night focused on how to dress for a job interview in San Francisco’s tech community. The secret? Put together an outfit inspired by a J.Crew mannequin, with a dash of your own style:
Sweater – This J.Crew merino sweater in warm jade is on sale for $44.
Shirt – Add a chambray shirt, this one is $24 from Old Navy, underneath the sweater.
Skirt – This “wow” pencil skirt from Boden is $124 and comes in cute pattern choices. Their sizing tends to run more curvy than American brands.
Shoes – An important job interview is the perfect excuse to splurge on these $240 navy suede pumps from Club Monaco.
Belt – A basic skinny brown belt in natural leather.
iPad Case – A lovely leather envelope for your obligatory iPad or Macbook Air.
Purse – If you get the job, you could reward yourself with this $900 Tiffany & Co. leather tote.
Bracelets – Gold and teal bangles add some polish.
Watch – A Kate Spade watch with orange leather strap adds a contrast color detail.
Earrings – Gold and orange enamel studs, also from Kate Spade, help bring in another dash of bright.
Glasses – Don’t forget your trendy hipster glasses!
Lipstick – Coral lipstick with staying power so you don’t have to worry about reapplying mid-interview.
Of course, every job interview and every interview-e requires something a bit different. Feel free to email me if you have an important job interview coming up and want advice on what to wear.
