Our favorite band, Scissors for Lefty, got two big mentions on Spin.com this week. The first was a round up of the New Year’s Eve show: “For Bay Are toe-tappers, the hands-down hot-spot for spending the last night of 2006 was San Francisco indie mecca the Mezzanine” (I had no idea I was so trendy!).…

A certain relative of mine is getting married in San Francisco next year. Instead of being bossy and trying to chirp in with ideas, I’m going to post them here to get it all out of my system. Be less bossy…another good New Year’s resolution to work on! Theme – Both the bride and groom…

The dinning room in our apartment serves a double duty as dining area and office. We have a huge teak desk from Cost Plus in the corner with our computer on it. The trouble is that the desk and the table are too similar and compete for dominance in the room. Rob and I have…

One of my New Year’s resolutions is to dress more creatively at work. My outfits have recently fallen into a turtleneck-skirt-flats rut that is somewhat frumpy. Cutting back on the turtlenecks and finding cute flat shoe alternatives will be a challenge. Here’s one option: Sweater – A cardigan and blazer all rolled into one. I…

And then you read closer and you see that it is a standing monthly invitation…with no RSVP required…to which over 80 people…

Jordan gave me this Kate Spade planner as a lovely gift early in December. I love using a paper calendar and pencils instead of Outlook to plan my time. There is just something so satisfying about crossing off a task or flipping a page. This particular calendar is well organized and full of cute clip…

Just when you feel like giving up shopping forever, the after-Christmas sales lure you back! This is a perfect time to stock up on classic pieces to get you through the rest of the winter: Ruffled Blouse – Ruffled blouses are a pain to iron but do wonders for “boyish” figures. This one was once…

I was so, so lucky over the holidays! Mom wanted to thin down her collection of family silver. That meant that Jean and I made out like true bandits! I came home with eight new pieces including, my favorite, a coffee pot that pivots to pour on top of a warming stand. I love each…
