Sick day

Sick day

A company lunch on Monday required that I sit outside, in the cold, for two hours. Being a “delicate flower,” I immediately came down with a cold. To make matters worse, I then proceeded to scald my left hand with boiling chicken soup on Monday night. As the first aid guide will tell you, first degree burns can be extremely painful but are effectively harmless (insult and injury). The combination of having a cold and trying to sleep clutching a cold beer can so my hand wouldn’t throb just made things worse. So Tuesday, I called in sick and spent the day in my PJ’s. Here’s my recipe for recovery:

  • Campbell’s chicken soup (try to avoid scalding) and toasted cheese sandwiches.
  • Icky Emer’gen-c supplements
  • Frozen blueberries
  • Coconut popsicles
  • TLC wedding and make-over stories
  • Library books

And the single best, cold recovery recipe is watching a DVD of Pride and Prejudice. Really, any version will do. I just watched the latest Keira Knightly version last night and am convinced that all the Bennets and Binglys cured me!
