Weekend Round-Up: Out on the Town

Our last weekend with Jean and Trent in the city was full of fun. We started Friday night with a walk down to Elixer on 16th Street. I like this old Victorian neighborhood bar for its relaxed atmosphere and history. On our way there, we picked up a box of 50% off holiday truffles at the Joseph Schmidt store. The chocolates were a perfect match with the pitchers of Winter Ale we ordered. At 7:45, it was time to hustle up to Thep Phanom for a Thai feast with visiting friends from Davis.

Jean and I woke up early on Saturday morning for our facial appointments at Urban Beauty in the Sunset. This Chinese salon offers 90 minute, intense facials for only $35. It was maybe a little too intense for Jean. We were back at home with shiny skin at 11:00 and starving for lunch. Trent, Rob, Jean and I went to Bodin in Macy’s for traditional San Francisco clam chowder bread bowls. A little shopping downtown at Loehmann’s before it was time for quick naps and packing. We met Trent’s family for dinner at La Mediterranee in Berkeley at 6:30. Delicious Armenian food and good conversation! We sadly had to say “good bye” to Jean and Trent on the train home. They continued on to the airport and back to North Carolina. I wish they could have spent more time in San Francisco! Rob and I love having them here.

I was so exhausted from the last week that I slept straight through to 10 am the next morning. At 11:00, Rob and I took the train out to the archery fields for some shooting with Matt. It was a balmy 65 degrees on Sunday and perfect for soaking up some sun. Matt joined us for lunch and pints at Burgermeister after and then came over to play xbox with Rob. He went home at 4:30 and we spent the rest of the evening resting, trying to clean up a bit and getting ready for another busy week.
