Urban Girl Almanac: Fresh Air
This has been a strange week. Make that a strange, paint-fume-filled week. Here’s what I learned in between dizzy spells:
- Floor sealant is nasty stuff.
- People on the #22 bus are reading Swan’s Way, The Guggenheim’s, Northern Gothic and Geek Love.
- I heart Truly Mediterranean.
- Sutro Heights Park is one of my new favorite places.
- This shirt rocks in grey with a pair of dark jeans.
- You need to peel the paper backing off these letters before ironing.
- The beach is not called “the shore” in North Carolina.
- I love walking at night in my neighborhood. It’s so quiet but busy at the same time and there are so many things to see.
- I am obsessed with the PBS show, Windsor Castle: A Royal Year. It makes me want to work in a castle or really any historic location…and convinces me that I should buy no less than half a dozen corgis.
- My cousin is getting married at this Sausalito church in October.
- I had a dream about opening a restaurant called “Emily’s House of Cheese” that would serve fondue, grilled cheese sandwiches, macaroni and cheese and all other delicious dairy things. Mmm.
- If you have $700,000 lying around, you can buy this TIC on Noe Street near my house.
- Brown purses: everyone has a favorite to share!
- Only 7 days until the Masterpieces of French Jewelry show at the Legion of Honor!
It’s supposed to be sunny and warm this weekend. My mom is going to be in the city for a short visit on Saturday and Rob and I may drive up to Bodega Bay to look at some property on Sunday. Have a great weekend!

Sorry about the fumes, that STINKS! Really, they used to do a sealant on the floor above ours in our condo every year, it’s truly awful. I’m glad the comments aren’t broken anymore, it feels wierd to read and not say hi. Have a great weekend.
What a great comment! Thank you!
Please open the cheese place. I am really obsessed witht eh Windsor sow as well.
I really do not how to spell. Perhaps I need to slow down a bit.
Hi! I started reading only a few months ago so I don’t know if you’ve mentioned this but I wanted to let everyone know about Lucky Rewards, if you don’t use it already. It’s through Lucky Magazine and you get cash back at all of our fave stores! A few examples are 14% back at Bluefly, 7% at Boden, 10% at Nordstroms… sephora, laredoute… the list goes on! Sign up, it’s totally free! I have a subscription, but I don’t even know if you need to have one. Happy bargain shopping!
