Thanks to the ladies over at Coveiter for this simple…
Resolutions
Wow. I did pretty well with my resolutions for 2008. I didn’t even realize I accomplished most of these before looking at the list today:
2008 Resolutions:
Cancel cable TV.Free HD channels by antenna are the best!Put on lipstick every morning. Keeping a stash of shades by the door has helped.Find a new dentist.Buy measuring spoons. It has occurred to me that I may not be an inherently terrible baker…just not a good guestimator.- Camp on Angel Island.
Get the dark freckle under my left eye zapped off. It makes me look tired.Be thicker skinned.Take bass lessons.- Paint the dining room.
Don’t worry. Be happy.Wear more red.Judge others less.Channel the bad-ass-ness of female rockers like Von Iva and Nancy Wilson. Oh, and the laid-back-ness of Kerri Russell.Plan the wedding without undue stress.Go for long rides on the tandem bike along the beach.- Make a website for the Ladies Activity Club.
Be a better listener. Try to really focus when people are talking and come up with good questions to ask back. Listen to a lot of Terry Gross for pointers.Redecorate the bedroom.(Done, although re-messed up.)Start climbing 5.10 c’s and d’s.Cook healthy food from scratch at least twice a week.
Let’s do it again for 2009:
- Good posture. This is my main goal for the year. I’m tired of seeing photos where I’m hunched over.
- Camp on Angel Island. Rob booked a July campsite yesterday.
- Make the LAC website. Coming soon, I promise.
- Host at least one dinner party each month.
- Plan an international vacation.
- Help Jean & Trent with their wedding.
- Take an art class.
- Wear more sneakers.
- Be bona fide. Defined as: authentic, authoritative, card-carrying, credible, for real, genuine, good-faith, legitimate, natural, official, original, pure, real, rightful, straight, true to life. Kathryn Hepburn and Diane Keaton are muses this year.
- Make the most of what I have.
- Have an incredibly fun year!

Hi Emily! Thanks so much for leaving your calling card—I’m thrilled you like my banner too. Not many people notice it (or at least comment about it). Perhaps I should start giving out special prizes to those who do 🙂
And I’m VERY impressed by all the resolutions you were able to cross off your 2008 list. Climbing 10’s and 11’s? Wow! That’s hardcore! Whereabouts in the Bay Area do you climb? I haven’t been in ages but perhaps you’ll inspire me…
and I’m VERY intrigued indeed by this mysterious LAC. Can’t wait for the website to hit the airwaves! (okay, i know the interweb doesn’t have airwaves, but it just sounded good!)
thanks again for your kind message and for leading me to your blog. i’m enjoying exploring your archives and can’t wait to follow your adventures in the coming weeks and months!
have a great weekend!
xo

Great resolutions! My number one resolution this year is the same as yours – my posture is terrible!
I wish you the best of luck in accomplishing them all. Knowing you as I do (entirely from your blog), I’m fairly certain you’ll be very successful!
hey! nice list. i really like the bona fide one..never seen that before.
posture was my number one too..

i made little sticky notes everywhere that says “how’s your posture?” and it totally reminds me! i made a wallpaper for my phone too:

happy friday!
Nice list – good call on the posture, I should add that in as well!
Camp on Angel Island was on my list last year too, and is still unmet. Sigh. We did camp at Bodega Bay though instead, with mixed results. But, you’ve renewed my enthusiasm. 2009! The year of Angel Island!
So great. SO GREAT. I love the bonafide one. I mean I really love it.
Love this list. And thank for the posture-improving link. That goal is on my 101 list and I need all the help I can get.
I had terrible back issues last year and the exercises I do for my low back pain have helped my posture tremendously. You don’t realize how weak your lower back is until you start strengthing it.
A lot of people spend time strengthing their core, but you have to do both your core and low back. Now I stand tall(er) without even thinking about it.
I’m loving the idea of Hepburn and Keaton as role models. Especially Keaton, who I was just singing the praises of the other day.
I definitely need to add posture to my list. Having good posture is actually on my list of life goals.
And congrats on doing such a super job in 2008!
