We were SO CLOSE to having our reception in a barn. We’d found a perfect place and a great bluegrass band, but then we noticed there was a pet cemetary right outside the door where our guests would arrive.

    Total dealbreaker

Whee! I was in a wedding last summer in a barn in Oregon; I put some pics up at Flickr. Specifically, they strung loads of lanterns with LEDs in them: http://www.flickr.com/photos/katef/2693968647/ (once it was dark the strings didn’t show at all)
And then they tied ribbons around a piece of wood and attached that in the barn door: http://www.flickr.com/photos/katef/2694786304/ (In that photo you can also see the chinese lantern towers, which were a Martha Stewart idea: Posts wrapped in Christmas lights, with lanterns stacked on them, lining the path to the barn. Fab!)
I’m sorry I don’t have photos from once it was dark but we were busy dancing like fools to the awesome band.

    Ah, summer in Oregon…. http://www.flickr.com/photos/katef/2694788926/
(BTW, Emily–check out my new link, in my name! I moved the blog.)

Ah, there’s a beautiful barn in San Juan Bautista–same place where Jardine’s is located (and five minutes from where I live) that’s available for weddings.

    Love it all!

My parents checked it out and think it will be great. A bit rustic but so are we.

Reminds me of events at the Santa Margarita Ranch. Didn’t Kyra get married there? Should be lots of fun barn decorating

These barn receptions shots are just gorgeous- I love the whole idea, and the parties all look like such a grand time!

I am so in love with your blog. I came across it a while back and then again this week, it’s on my list now so as to not lose it again. Such delightful reading, and what else should I expect from a fellow Emily? -e

I am desperately looking for barn venues in Oregon right now (and that is how I ran across your blog). Can you tell me the name of this venue and/or where in OR it is?

    Thank you!
