To Do: Make a Sock Monkey
Rob’s one year old and nine year old nephews are having a big birthday party this weekend. I asked my future sister-in-law for her suggestion on what to get the baby and she mentioned a sock monkey. How clever!
So I ordered one from Amazon…and somehow missed the several places where they mentioned that instead of a completed monkey you get “2 red-heeled socks, thread, needles and pins.” Oops.
The box on the children’s craft kit said it would only take one hour to complete the project. Sure, if you’re some sort of crafty Amish child genius. After four hours last night, I had all the pieces hand sewn and stuffed. With a few more hours tonight, I should be able to attach the arms, tail and face to finish it.
My mistake has turned out to be a really fun project! I want to try it again using some other socks or old sweaters and other designs.
