Do you have a favorite summer book? My preference is…
Inspiration: Lemon Creme Tarts
I am so nervous about trying to bake a lemon creme tart tonight. I’m a pretty good cook, but not such a good baker…largely because I don’t like to follow recipes. And this isn’t just any recipe, it is from the Tartine Bakery cookbook and intended for people who decidedly know what they are doing.
On the plus side, the finished result will be gorgeous if I am successful. Here’s a photo of the professionally made tarts. Don’t those look like beautiful pearl rings set in gold? Ooo…pearl rings!
Mabe Pearl Ring – This classic piece reminds me of an antique round mirror my grandmother had in her house. $2,250.
Lilja Ring – From an artist in Oslo through Etsy.com. It is so “intelligent” looking! $325.
Estate Pearl Ring – I love the simplicity of this one. It would be perfect with a modern black dress at a book party. $85.
Pearl Flower Ring – Delicate and simple for spring. From an artist in Wisconsin through Etsy.com for only $18.
I may just buy one of those last two rings if I manage to actually succeed at my baking tonight. It will be good motivation to stick to the recipe!

Paul gave me a ring like the Estate Pearl Ring for Christmas. Except mine is in silver.
Good luck on your tart.
I like the estate ring too!

I have a beautiful pearl ring that has a diamond in the middle of it (hard to picture, but really cool) I tried to find a picture of it, but had no luck…
My in-laws own a jewelry store so I get to drool over lots of good stuff.. I have a wish list a mile long!
