Crafty: Latice Pumpkins
I love the concept behind these pumpkin designs from Martha Stewart. Using the appropriate wood gouges it doesn’t seem like it would be utter lunacy. It might be cute as “lanterns” for a dinner party centerpiece.
I’m a bit of a traditionalist though, I would probably decide at the last minute to go with something more like this instead!

I agree. As much as I love all Marths’s fancy pumpkins I too prefer the traditional pumpkin.
I helped carve numbers into 15 pumpkins for table centerpieces for my cousin’s wedding last fall. And speaking from experience, even with little pumpkin/wood carving tools its totally tedious work. You’d have to be really committed to something like that, and accept that it will not be perfect.
There’s a reason the traditional pumpkins are so simple.

Poor Margaret! You always seem to end up with the worst jobs at weddings. Wildflower picking…pumpking carving!
