As I mentioned last week, my indoor limequat tree unceremoniously…
Inspiration: Dark Teal
I promised myself that I would take at least a few weeks off from wedding planning to just enjoy being engaged. It’s been a nice way for Rob and I to brainstorm without actually planning. So far, we’re thinking the Ahwahnee Hotel in Yosemite will be our location for the October wedding.
As for colors, I am leaning toward lots of ivory, with dark brown and dark teal as accents. I think they’ll work well with the location’s natural colors and the hotel’s brown and teal decor. But I am very nervous about dark teal. It could go so wrong. Here are some examples of the color I’m thinking of:
Ribbon – I have a small piece of satin ribbon in this color that is my main inspiration.
Tissue Bell – Ha! Yeah right. But this is close to the color.
Sweater – The perfect blend of green and blue.
Blazer – The French really know their teal. (On sale!)
Bracelet – From Etsy.
Shoes – Ignore the orange and red stripes on these Fairly Robbin pumps.
Eyeshadow – I want this eyeliner set!
What do you think? Could it work or should I rethink the whole thing? A dark sapphire blue would be easier, would it be better too?

i think that sounds lovely, more character than just dark blue. And a wedding in Yosemite sounds great. You have to tell me if there is anything French you need for the wedding planning, I would be happy to bring it over for you!
Ooo! I can’t think of anything French I need off the top of my head. Any ideas?
I think these colors sound great. I like the fact that you are making the color decisions with the location in mind. A lot of people forget this and it is essental to creating an event with impact.
i would look into booking the date now even if you don’t want to do any planning yet. that place fills up quickly…even just the hotel portion (for all your guests to get rooms)
At first, I was kind of thrown off because Teal Blue can look very Wet Seal cheap. But I think a lot of ivory mixed with dark chocolate and velvety looking, satiny teal blue accents will be lovely. It’s definitely unique and that’s how you seem to roll….
Sounds amazing! I got married in August and used a nice springy green with dark brown as my accent colors, and I was very pleased by the late summer/early fall feel I got. For October teal would be great; dark teal and marine blue are favorites of mine and are SO sophisticated with brown. Whee, congrats! Are you on indiebride.com’s Kvetch forums yet? They saved. my. ass.
The dark teal is pretty, but I like the idea of saphire blue better. Teal has the misfortune of reminding me of junior prom circa 1987. But you have a fabulous eye so I’m sure if anyone can make the teal work, you can!
I vote for dark teal. It’s my very favorite color in the whole world, but it can also be very hard to find the hue that’s just right. I think someone above called it Wet Seal Cheap, lol! The pieces you’ve picked here are absolutely gorgeous!
Wow! You’ve been busy. JCrew calls it “deep peacock,” if that scares you less than teal. ‘http://www.jcrew.com/catalog/product.jhtml?id=prod73877391
I like the color!
I like Chelsea’s comment. It seems like the mountains in October would have lots of rusts and reds to which this teal would be the perfect contrasting color. I think it sounds beautiful.
Awesome catch, Jean! I feel much better about it knowing that it is an authorized J.Crew wedding color!
Ah, I was beaten to it: You were my first thought when I saw the Peacock dresses in the J. Crew catalogue last night. They look like a very good shade of the color.
That’s totally the color I was picturing. Now I’ll have to make sure I don’t lose my headband.
