My new favorite dinner! Leftover pork loin was delicious in…
What to Wear: Niagra Falls
I keep forgetting that it is still winter in most of the country. We’ve been so lucky here with sunny days in the 60’s all week. In comparison, it’s 30 degrees in Buffalo right now. Cheryl is going there in a few weeks:
My husband and I are going away for a weekend alone in mid April – the first time since having our son almost three years ago. We are both busy teachers, and my husband is also taking classes at night and on a bazillion committees at school, so this trip is something we are really looking forward to! We are going to Buffalo to see one of our favorite comedians, dinner at a great seafood place (at a friend of a friends restaurant – reservations required!), do some shopping, hit the casino and probably a stop at Niagara Falls.
So, I need a few different outfits – and the weather in NY, especially in buffalo can be hit or miss in April- but don’t feel like packing a ton of stuff. I am 30 – and still consider myself fairly hip, but I don’t really dig super revealing clothes. I have a good core wardrobe but am looking for some great pieces to spice up my look for this trip, that can also be incorporated into my wardrobe once I’m back to being in Momma and teacher mode!
I’m 5’3, and a size 4/6 in most things. Now that Ive given you all that info can you possibly point me in the right direction?
Celebrate your weekend alone with some simple grown-up outfits that can be reworked once you’re back at home:
Day
Puffer – All the fancy young women in San Francisco reach for a North Face puffy in black on cold weekends. Sports Basement has them for $50 off.
Sweater – De-puff to a white cardigan and an eggplant henley.
Jeans – They’re almost trouser jeans, making them a bit fancier.
Boots – A good flat pair goes with almost anything.
Bag – A gray suede bag on sale for $24.
Evening
Dress – A little black dress for France for $44 is just the ticket for a dinner date. You can also pair this with a turtleneck underneath, opaque tights and boots for a day look later.
Shoes – Suede pumps with a bow on sale.
Clutch – From Forever 21.
Earrings – It’s amazing how nice a delicate, dangly pair can make you feel.
Have fun on your trip!
