What to Wear: Connecticut Reunion

Suse has a fun, and I would think a bit scary, event coming up in Connecticut:

I’m headed to my 10th High School reunion back in CT in May. It’s a weekend long event with a cocktail reception on Friday night, events during the day on Saturday, a dinner on Saturday night and brunch on Sunday. Nothing is very formal, but that’s four outfits! I haven’t really been shopping for non-work related clothes in quite some time thanks to my 9 month old. My every day style is classic and simple but I’m also willing to step out of the box a bit on things. I’m loving most of the latest J. Crew catalog, and I’m definitely not afraid of some color!

My other struggle is that I’m fairly petite- 5’4″ and a size 2 so I can’t really wear stuff that overwhelms my frame. I think Saturday during the day might be the hardest. That’s when everything happens back at the campus with alums and teachers. I’d love your suggestions for an outfit for the weekend that won’t completely destroy my bank account!

The weather looks like it will be pretty ideal that time of year 50-70 degrees. Here’s one way to knock ’em dead:

Top – I am in head over heels in love with this halter top from Anthropologie. And, in my experience, it is hard to find a more flattering cut.
Jeans – Trouser jeans are casual, professional, grown-up, just the thing for a 10 year reunion.
Shoes – Tan wedges that show off a bright pink pedicure.
Jacket – If you can find the ruffled version in the stores (all sold out online) go for that instead.
Bangle – From Forever 21 with an exotic flair.
Sunglasses – Aviators, because you are cool like that.
