Honeymoon: Immense Wyoming

Honeymoon: Immense Wyoming

Word to the wise: Wyoming is incredibly huge and mostly full of vast fields of nothing. Outside of Yellowstone and Jackson, there appears to only be sagebrush and the occasional pronghorn deer. It’s not ugly – there really isn’t anything around to offend – but it is super harsh. How on earth did the pioneers make it through this part?

We spent a long, rainy day driving through with only Wyoming’s surprisingly great NPR stations to keep us from boredom. It was during this muddy stretch that our decorated car hit terminal dirtiness. We eventually crossed into Colorado and spent the night at Estes Park.

You can see all our photos from Wyoming here.

Tomorrow: Colorado! Including stories of hiking, hot springs, tandem biking, marble, rural medical care and even more things made out of antlers.

Growing up near Wyoming, I’d have to agree. But, after driving from the east coast to Utah, Wyoming seems like the most beautiful state out there. Funny what Iowa and Nebraska do for perspective!

We drove from SLC to Jackson Hole this summer and we had the exact same experience – we couldn’t get any radio stations but NPR and we listened to a ton of it over the week. Wyoming is truly remarkable.

I like how Rob’s new ring sticks out in this picture.

Aaahh! I've been waiting for the WY recap. 🙂 I moved away this summer & truly miss it. Mostly the people & my job BUT ditto on the NPR – a nice surprise, right? Yes, very bare but somehow really beautiful ('course I grew up amid green & trees). And the Tetons. Le sigh. Your photos DO do them justice. Thank you.
