Urban Girl Almanac: Itchy
I hope I haven’t made you sympathetically itchy with my tales of rashy-woes this week! My test results have all come back negative thus far. It continues to be a medical mystery. Here’s what I learned:
- A ribbon tied to your keys, tied to your purse is a nice thing to have.
- I’m kind of over fancy handbags right now. My new $30 bag is doing just fine.
- I’m much braver about having my blood drawn than I used to be.
- Googling symptom is the best way to give yourself a complex in 0.2 seconds.
- I could watch Sense and Sensibility non-stop for probably three days without getting sick of it. Sweet Emma Thompson! Shy Hugh Grant! That lovely cottage!
- It’s fun to visit a bar now and then.
- True love is having someone who will gladly help you apply ointment.
- I need to stop eating out at lunch everyday.
- There should really be two different kinds of dermatologists: the cosmetic, fancy kind and the emergency, rashy kind.
- My company gave me a credit card!
- There may be something to the Aveno oatmeal bath.
- 30 Rock forever!
We’re gearing up for a full house this weekend. Nicole is coming to stay with us Friday night and Margaret arrives on Saturday. Although, I’m still thinking of moving the wedding back to September, this will be the wedding “rehearsal” weekend. We’re going to the wholesale flower market, driving to Sausalito and tasting cakes. I could watch Sense and Sensibility over and over again as well. I think I’ve watched it so many times over the years that I feel like i know the characters and the ending makes me cry every time. I just love Colonel Brandon!!!

I’m sure you’ve had this checked out before, but I’ll suggest it anyway…. One of my students just got a case of the bed bugs. Someone in her building got the place infected. She has a lot of little itchy bumps, and somehow the bugs seem to all bite her and not her husband.
Sense and Sensibility is so amazing. Emma really deserved the Oscar for the screenplay.. it’s simply brilliant.
Sorry about the rash. Rashes stink beyond words. I’m allergic to everything so I have a tendancy to break out in hives and other allergic joy on a regular basis. Good luck. 🙂
