When we moved to San Francisco a few months ago,…
Recipe: Jean’s Hot Toddy
Mmm…these hot drinks were a favorite during our stay in North Carolina. They’re ideal for warding off colds, too:
Jean’s Hot Toddy
1 pint glass
Around 2 tablespoons of honey
1/2 a jigger of Irish whiskey
Splash of spiced rum
Splash of orange liqueur
Wedge of orange
Whole cloves and cinnamon or loose mulling spices
Black tea
Pour the honey in the bottom of a glass, top with liquor and turn on the kettle. Stick your spices into the skin of the orange wedge, pomander style. When your water is near boiling, pour into the glass, mix and diffuse with tea to taste. A lot of the alcohol steams off with the hot water. Adjust the recipe for your preferences.
