We have a framed map of the London Underground on our bedroom wall. I love it. . .it’s just so fun and modern and reminds me of our London adventures.
my FAVORITE decor item in my home is a beautiful birch branch that I’ve perched little sewn birds in!
I have a beautiful crystal vase that sits on my dining room table. I love it because it is elegant and really pulls the room together. The room is full of windows and the vase does a wonderful job of catching all that great light!
I have a print I bought after attending a whistler exhibit in DC. I had to have the frame custom-made since the print was so irregular. I am happy whenever I look at it.
What a great giveway! My favority decor item is an portrait painted by my sister.
Great giveaway. 🙂 My favorite item is a thrift store parson’s style desk that we refinished. I don’t ever want to give it up.
An oil painting I bought at a fair in Rio de Janeiro.
This book has been on my wish list for awhile! My favorite home decor item is a bowl made out of wood and mother of pearl that my grandfather brought back from Syria decades ago, and that my grandmother gave me after he died. He was an avid traveler and made friends wherever he went…I’m sure it was a gift from someone he met along the way.
I have a beautiful hand stitched wall hanging that I purchased in Jordan. It was made by Palestinian refugee women and it rocks!
I have a pink Tord Boontje Midsummer light. I bought it after I got my first job out of college and I just love to see it hanging in my room.
my favorite things are the prints of my dogs that I blew up and hung at the top of my stair well. both of their personalities are captured perfectly.
It has to be the wing back chair that I painstakingly reupholstered myself! It is was a labor of love and definitely makes a statement in my house.
This is a tough one! There are so many things I don’t think I could live without but I’m going to go with my framed collage picture of my son. The colors are vibrant and it garners a second look from passerbys.
LOVE the pictures and maps we’ve gathered from our travels around the world. Recently added pictures of my girls in those places as well.
I have been coveting that book for a while now! My current favorite decorating object is a wispy little watercolor given to us by in-laws visiting from Australia who would have had absolutely no way to know anything about the style/colors of our house, or how PERFECT it would look in my freshly-painted bathroom. It was some sort of perfect decorating coincidence and I love it!
I love my new Norman Rockwell print of “The Golden Rule” that I got for Christmas.
And my big comfy couches.
What fun! My favorite pieceis my grandmother’s tin button box. It’s round and beautiful and brings me such joy.
Thanks, Emily!
My favorite thing right now is a vinyl monogram I ordered for above the fireplace. It is amazing!
Great giveaway! Count me in!
P.S. Is it really true that Domino is done? I keep hearing conflicting info.
My favorite thing is my silver moon mirror and my wedding pictures (newly married!)

Great giveaway!
I’ve been meaning to pick this up…My favorite decor item in our house is a jadeite cake plate from our wedding. It held our wedding cake, and now it elevates a stained glass lamp in our living room. It makes me so happy!
I have a seven-foot triptych screen that I collect all of my postcards on. I have a friend in the foreign service, so I have postcards from pretty far-flung places like Mongolia, Oman, Kyrgyzstan, Tanzania, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Siberia, Estonia, Latvia, Uzbekistan, ….
Framed art, which I move around and re-hang (or go swap something with my mom) when I want a little change of scenery.
My roommate painted our kitchen table a bright summer green. When I first saw it I was unsure, but now it’s my favorite piece in our apartment! We have hardwood floors and bare white walls, and rest of our decor is black and purple, so the punch of green is refreshing and sweeter than the traditional red accent color. It makes me smile every day.
I hope I get this book for the day my roommate leaves me 🙂
My favorite piece is a slipper chair I bought in terrible condition and re-upholstered with my own blood, sweat, and tears (literally!). If you look closely it’s not even close to perfect but I love it all the more for that.
I’ve built entire rooms around two space-agey acid yellow lamps I bought at Target ages ago.
My favorite decor item in my house is a print featuring a glimpse of Amsterdam. It is black and white save for a little red bicycle. I love it so much because the small streats, buildings, cars, …remind me of my childhood home. 🙂

Our first date was to the circus…

Favorite decor item? Probably the sketches of flowers that my great-grandmother did that I had framed. I don’t remember her but I am the only great-grandchild she ever met so the things she left for me mean a lot.
I am a little style challenged, but my favorite thing in my house is a framed painting I got while I was in China. It is breathtaking! Love your blog!
Three little metal birds.
I too have been eyeing this book. I am in a decorator rut, desperately trying to get out. My favorite item is a framed magazine from the 50s from my grandmother.
I have a little silver bird on my mantle that just makes me smile.
My favorite is a wooden alligator that acts as a little table next to our couch. It was my grandparents (from their home on Sanibel Island, FL) that they sold about 5 years ago. (Sad!)
I just bought a house and am decorating it as we speak. I can’t answer the question because it is in such disarray. That’s why I need the book!!

…the bookcase my father made for us!
-a&0

i have a giant merrimeko wall hanging that brightens up my white rental walls. but i don’t have this book yet, so i’d love to win!
The retro Qantas Airlines posters that my SIL gave us. They’re lovely.

I bought two table lamps at a local modern store last year and every time I see them I love them.
It’s hard to choose, but one of my favs is a K Studio pillow I picked up at Anthropologie for only about $10! (When they are usually $100.)

The red blown glass bowl my husband gave me as a gift.
funny, i just posted it at the beginnning of this week! it’s an old chair from my gramma that i wasn’t sure what to do with. i started with a light yellow, that wasn’t quite right, added a dark yellow, still no good. finally brushed on some turquoise as a real rough finish. TA DA! i love it…i was planning on changing out the seat cushion, but it turns out i love the old fabric on there with the bright color!

Thank you for the giveaway. My favorite decor item in my home is actually quite small. It’s a full spice set with rack made of depression glass (white milk glass). It’s a set of 8 with red, blue and white that I got in an antique store in ME. I love the vintage look.
An old print of a couple sitting on a bench. The frame is brown and gold. I Love it…
Thank you for this giveaway. I would love to have this book to help as I continuously make improvements on my first home. My favorite decor in our house is what we have on our walls. Everything is either from a placed traveled to our art by someone I know personally. It creates an electic combination of decor, with the lovely theme of having things that have personal meaning hanging on the walls.
I have an owl bank I got at an Urban Outfitters forever ago. It is the perfect color of green, it’s perfectly simple and jsut makes me smile!
Old school maps. Thanks for putting together this lovely giveaway.
Ooooh. I don’t have this one yet and I keep eyeing it.
My collection of cake stands is probably my favorite thing. I have three of them that sit in the center of my table and I use them for a rotating display of some of my little lovelies. Right now they are showcasing my Easter tree, which has hand decorated eggs from Prague.
ooo! Could so use that book for our new place! My favorite thing is a red dragon rug that I picked up in Bhutan – it’s right on the border between kitschy and art.
My favorite is a red and white gingham high backed sofa chair in my living room. It’s adorable and so comfortable.
I just bought a bunch of back issues on ebay-I heart them.
A big beautiful moody painting by Steve Sechi. We just love it.
My great-grandmother’s trunk — the canvas is stained, the wood is warped, and the leather is cracked, but it always brings a cozy, aged feeling to my apartment — perfect, since I move around a lot!
Two vintage blue suitcases that I found at a thrift store for $9 total! They are beautiful and make me smile 🙂
My framed prints that I bought in Europe (London and Paris). They remind me of the fun times I had there w/my cousin.
What a great giveaway! My favorite decor item is the first picture that my husband drew for me when we were in high school. I had it framed recently and it hangs in the living room.
Fun! My favorite thing is funky art deco lamp my mom picked up for me…she then rewired and gave it a new lampshade. I LOVE it.
My fave decor accessory in my home is the huge Bell Cookie Jar I bought at 16. Not only does it serve it’s original purpose quite often but I have used it for everything from a vase, hurricane shade, centerpiece displaying Christmas ornaments, fishbowl, etc. It’s size never fails to ensure we get tons of comments on it!! Best part?? I think it was $12.00!
I was *just* thinking of buying this book this week! Favorite item: my trio of Lucite nesting tables inherited from my parents. They’re only a few years older than me, but I have such fun memories of climbing in them, placing my cereal bowl on them to watch Saturday ‘toons… it’s so nice having them in my home now.
My favorite decor item is a painting I bought while living in Brussels. The story behind the painting is just as meaningful as the painting itself.
Great giveaway! We have a tin wall mirror my husband fell in love with at a little shop in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico. I wasn’t a fan at the time but now I see what a great decor eye he has!
i picked up a few paper mache vases from a recent trip to india. they’re insanely colorful and add just the right amount of punch to our white walls.
I have a small hot water pipe that is running through my living room. It used to bother me, but I knit a “cozy” for it out of some scrap yarn, using a variety of different patterns. It’s whimsical, adds a dash of color and always gets comments from guests!
Oooh, this is a tough one, as I have many favorites. Right now, I’m feeling affection towards my ice bucket, which slightly resembles a disco ball and looks so pretty and cheerful on the shelf.

I rent but decided to spruce up my place with lots of wallpaper… I double-stick taped it on and I love it!
I was an art major in college so I was lucky enough to collect some great pieces by some great friends!
I have been wanting this book for-ever. I absolutely adore my Antique Sorority Creed – that was hand-lettered and painted 50 years ago.
Fingers crossed!
I love my Nana’s vanity that I inherited. It is splendid and I cannot bring myself to paint it. Such history and memories of childhood.
We are moving next week so it is currently in boxes. My favorite item is silly and unexpected – but a felted owl that I won online. His name is Herbert and he has such a personality!
My grandmother’s desk, it is old and frail, but I love it none the less.
I miss the magazine so much!
A silver tray – that is mounted in our kitchen on the wall. It is the only thing I have left that was my father’s and means so much.
Love the book – hope I win!
My collection of Lab “vases” – from my father’s old research lab. Makes me think of when I was little and loved to see all the experiments “churning”…and funny to see knockoffs in the store now.
I love the bookshelf my fiancee built. It makes our living room complete! And I’m so impressed with the work he did.
My favorite decor item is my french wine bottle drying rack. It holds my white coffee mugs and I use it at gatherings. Everyone comments on it’s usefulness.
love this!
My favorite item in my house are the vases I got from my boyfriend whenever he got me flowers. They are so unique and beautiful, I display them on a shelf.
We have a beautiful crystal chandelier in our dining room–it came with the house. We always loved it but when we had to have a small repair made we found out that it is very rare communist-era Checklosovakian hand-cut crystal. The chandelier guy went crazy over it. It is my favorite thing because it is something we never, in a million years, would have spent money on but are lucky enough to eat under it every day!
when i married my husband i didn’t realize he was so into gnomes. granted, he’s very particular about them – no santa claus looking ones here. so as you look about our house, you might find one peeking out at you from behind a frame, or maybe a plant.
Van Gogh’s Starry Night, not sure why it makes me so happy just to look at it. Maybe “How to Steal a Million” with Audrey Hepburn helps. Love her and that movie!
Oh I would love this book. My favorite decor item is my grandmother’s vintage laundry basket…it is very unique.
Ooh, let's see … currently, it would be the mini-gallery wall I hung of my sweetie & me right above our nightstand. A few of our favorite fun times & in a nice but non-matchy array of frames & slighty off center but so fun! I want to do more!
my wedding pictures!
My first comment! I love the misc. items on our entertainment center – we have a collection of neat trinkets – for lack of a better term – that we or family have purchased on trips all around the world.
I have this weird heavy dark bronze bust of Michelangelo I inherited from my grandparents. It’s quiet and random and oddly inspiring!
My favorite decor item(s) are some framed prints of birds that I bought last year, which inspired the theme for the nursery of our first daughter, due in 2 days! The colors are so bright and cheerful and make me think of spring.

My favorite item is my mid century credenza that I found at a thrift store for next to nothing. My heart skipped a beat when I found it!
I have amassed a collection over the years of vintage art pottery vases…McCoy, Roseville, Shawnee and the like. While I have collected such interesting shapes and sizes, I have needed to limit it to one color to coordinate with my decor. My choice…Robin’s egg blue! Love, love, love it!
Hmmm…. Probably my favorite item is a cherry wood, modern console table and mirror.
My favorite is a framed picture of my grandmother as a child in the Philippines. The original photo has faded to a sepia tone and she looks like a beautiful, perfect doll. Everytime I see it, it makes me smile.
i have an amazing tapestry that hangs in front of the sliding door in my apartment. it does double duty–keeping heat in and brightening up the living room!
This book looks great. I love the console that we have in our entry. Let’s be honest … I love that we even have an entry!
When I was in college, my roommate’s friend gave us a (life-size) cardboard cutout of Abraham Lincoln which was really random!
My grandmother’s pair of old imitation Louis XIV chairs (she was from Jersey, okay) that are white and upholstered in acid yellow. Sounds potentially horrific, but they are pretty swank and sharp!
Well, I actually blogged about 10 of my favorite things so it’s tough to narrow it down to just one but I think it would have to be my tiffany stained glass replica of “the river of life” — although it was a tie between that and our new handknotted wool rug with a “tree of life” motif. Love symbolic decor. I never win anything but if there was to be a first, I do hope it’s this book!
My piece of decor is my shamrock green fiestaware.. I have a lot of pieces placed through out my apartment. Functional and nice to look at 🙂 green is my favorite color. I also have pieces of salmonfalls pottery that family has given me over the past couple years.. so pretty too..
My favorite is my dining set. It is the first real dining set I have had. Not a cast off from someone else in the family. I was able to pick fabric for the chairs etc. Makes me feel grown up. Now I just need to get my confidence up to actually cook nice dinners and have people over.
A pewter revere bowl my parents gave me for Christmas brings joins the past with the present in our Boston apartment! Plus, it’s shiny. 🙂
Our wedding invitation in a beautiful frame. I designed it with the help of a friend and still think it’s the most beautiful invite ever! Brings back great memories every time I look at it.
I have this gorgeous platter and bowl from Anthropologie. I had my eye on it when it was full price ad just couldn’t justify it. But I went back a couple of weeks later and both were on clearance. They are oversized with sort of a marbelized pattern. I’ve had my eye on this book for a while. This is a great giveaway.
My favorite decor item is our Day of the Dead cake topper from our wedding. My husband picked it out, and I love having it on our bedside table reminding me of our perfect day as I fall asleep.
my ball jars…
My favorite thing is a tiny painting I bought in Paris.
We are currently in temp housing while we search for a new home, so all my favorite decor items are packed away in storage! 🙁 One that I dearly miss is a very peaceful painting of white lilies against a gold background that my husband bought me for my birthday last year.
I have a framed watercolor of peacocks that I nabbed at a silent auction. Not only do I love the colors, but I outbid the governor’s wife (at a whopping $25) to get it.
A collage I made for my daughter right before she was born that hangs in her nursery.
My favorite is the framed ketubah from my wedding. It’s beautiful and sentimental!
Awesome giveaway!! My favorite would have to be a doily my Grandma made that I framed. People comment on it all the time and all I did was put it in a Target frame!!
A hand made Najavho clay pot that I bought in this random store in Jacksonville, Oregon. =)
My newest favorite thing is my set of book plates that I framed and put up in my new library. Pictures are on my blog.
We have a large glass bottle that we fill with wine corks. We started filling it up right after we get married and plan to continue.
Right now my favorite is my framed maternity/newborn pics of my 5 month old boy.
A piece of art I found in the back of a tourist shop that is oil on canvas of some very pretty flowers. It’s currently on the wall above our bed but I would love to move it somewhere else since it makes me so happy everytime I look at it.
I have a 5 foot light-up dinosaur gifted to me by my younger sister 🙂 We decorate it according to holiday (santa hat & scarf for Christmas, bunny ears for Easter…)
Right now, it’s the funky dark green chandelier I got off of Craigslist. It was from an antique store with an-almost $200 price tag; I got it for $75!
my favorite decor item is a group more than a single item- when i travel and visit museums, i buy card sized copies of my favorite paintings in the museum and frame them…they remind me of places i loved visiting and surround me with beauty and art!
Mt favorite item is my bed. It once belonged to my great-grandparents and has since been owned by my great-aunt, grandmother, aunt, mother, sister, and now I share it with my fiance. I just moved into my own place this past summer and it is definitely the most cherished and most beautiful piece of furniture that I have. I look forward to passing it along to future generations.
My favorite decor item is an Army World War II steamer trunk that belonged my Great-Uncle Frank. It has his last name painted on it and has some really cool stamps from other countries on it. I use it as a side table and had a glasstop made for the top of it. Underneath the glass, I have Vintage Postcards and Black and White Photos arranged. Thanks for the opportunity for such a great giveaway!!
My favorite decorative item is my collection of Hall China teapots. Great shapes and colors.
a hand blown vase from venice!
Whenever DH and I go to Disneyworld we ride the Carousel of Progress (it’s our absolute favorite). When we moved in together we found a reproduction print advertising the ride from the late 60’s. It had to go in our room. “From the good ol’ days to the possible present…” talk about a perfect slogan for newly weds!
My husband and I collected our personal versions of “art” before we married. Now combined we have an eclectic mix of vintage, retro and antique.
Have you picked a winner yet? Hopefully I can still enter. My favorite piece of decor is my globe that lights up.
I have a beautiful picture from Ikea called “Bahama Morning.” It’s the focus of my room.
right now, it is a small vintage table with a tile top that i picked up (damaged) on the side of the road. i gave it to my grandpa as a mini project to occupy some of his time and he repaired it for me beautifully. that makes it so special to me!
My most precious decor “items” would be my dogs! Their chocolate coats dictate the fabrics and colors of every room and the house feels empty when they’re not there!
