Wedding Wednesday: More Second Dress News
Last night, I tried on the shiny dress for Margaret and Rob and it was voted off the wedding island. Seriously, why so shiny Mr. Meister?
In the meantime, I found a new ivory J.Crew sophia dress in my size on eBay and convinced the shop to sell it to me early for $60 (currently at J.Crew for $195). It may not be the most exciting dress ever, but it is the best back-up yet.
I’ll return the shiny dress to Saks tomorrow or Friday night and give it one more go to try to find a dress or pants that work better. All this buying and returning indecisiveness isn’t my style.

That is a super price!
I wore that dress for my wedding and I think you will love it. It is timeless and so pretty.

While knockin’ around on the net, I saw a couple Nicole Miller confections that reminded me of the styles you have posted about.
Ridiculously priced, but fun to look at anyway…

Anne – good to hear! Did you wear the long or the short version?
Greeneyes – I actually tried on one of the Miller dresses. It’s very flattering but also very sexy with all that ruching…a little much 😉
I wore the long version of this dress at my wedding and LOVED it. (I’ve thought about getting it altered to be shorter so I could wear it again!) I wanted something classic and it was definitely it.
I wouldn’t do it any differently now.
Emily, I’m so glad the shiny dress is going back to Saks. I was trying so hard to love it, but I just couldn’t. I DO, however, love the new dress choice. It’s totally what I pictured you wearing – classic, simple, clean and lovely – just like you! I hope it works for you.
I’m sure any of the dresses would be super cute, but I just have this feeling that you only wear your wedding dress once – and I personally would want to leave it on as long as possible, and not change!
Good point Stephanie! If I was wearing a normal wedding dress, I wouldn’t change at all. It’s just that the antique lace dress I’m wearing is too delicate for the whole evening.
I wore the long version too. I also have that dress in the short black chiffon and it is fun, but I think the silk version would be nicest long.

It’s almost here!
I did not care much for the shiny dress but this one is the best ever. It is elegant & classy & it looks so comfortable like you could put it on & not have to tug & pull or be overly concerned about how you sit or stand. Hope it comes together.
Although the Sophia dress is one of my favorite ever, and I know you will look gorgeous in it.. I kind of think you should wear THE dress the entire evening, also. It is so amazing on you and it doesn’t get the chance to shine that often. You’ll really get to show it off and you aren’t doing too much that could damage it. I dunno, just a thought. But this dress is way better than the other one, and you could make it your own with a sash and such. You’ll look fantastic either way!
