Things I Love Today: Raw Almonds

Raw almonds are the best snack ever! Sweet and crunchy and fairly healthy. However, I just discovered yesterday that I’ve been inhaling approximately 84% of my daily fat intake by snacking on raw almonds all day. Even for “good fat” that is still a whole lot of fat!

As a bonus, they’re full of calcium and iron and they’re great for cooking. Trader Joe’s has them in 16 ounce bags for a good price.

    They have a really great flavor if you toast them a little bit. We threw some in the toaster oven for 10 minutes and they have a whole different taste to them if you get bored with the raw style.

    about the almonds, i love almonds too but my new fave treat is lemon roasted almonds that we get at a little middle eastern market by our house.

    me, too!

    I’m loving the raw nuts lately. I’ve always read/heard “better flavor if you toast” about all nuts, but a recent TJ purchase (not a city-dweller, so only there occasionally) has converted me to raw for a change.

    if i pay very close attention, I can detect the “almond flavoring” almond taste–a long-time favorite.
